Blue Ridge Florist & Gifts has been around for many years though it’s changed ownership a few times. I purchased my wedding day flowers locally… beautiful Calla Lillies that made a magnificent bouquet! And I’ve personally used Blue Ridge Florist & Gifts more recently for flowers for prom and for recent funeral arrangements for loved ones.
Currently, ownership is under Lori Kuszmaul who resides in nearby Meadows of Dan. She has a passion for making the shop her own, making changes to lighten and brighten the interior, to make it super inviting for people to come stop in and check out not only the flowers and plants, but also the new inventory of gifts like rain-chains, succulents, Carruth Studio stone art, gift baskets, bottle bouquets and other unique finds! Originally from Northwest Ohio, in 2021, Lori found herself in Georgia caring for family. Her family moved back to Charlotte, NC and encouraged her to also move and she found herself in Virginia. Upon the move to Virginia, the company she had been working for was bought out by a larger corporation. It was at this point she decided to pursue her dream of owning a flower shop and being part of the Floyd community.
Lori shared with me it was while she was at the hairdresser chatting that she mentioned wishing that Blue Ridge Florist and Gifts in Floyd would go up for sale. Another beautician overheard the comment and informed her that it was, indeed, currently for sale! Everything fell into place as she met with the former owner, Teresa, and Lori took ownership officially in January of 2024! She is so happy to be the new owner and is living her best life!

Blue Ridge Florist and Gifts has been brightening lives throughout Floyd County for years — Lori delivers from Meadows of Dan to Riner, Bent Mountain to Indian Valley and all the other little communities in Floyd as well as parts of Patrick County and Carroll County. I’m not aware of any other service that offers this extensive coverage. Lori and her team take that responsibility seriously. Whether it’s a joyful celebration or a moment that needs comforting, they’re the kind of shop that gets it right every time.

For instance, for every vase you’d like to bring in to donate, she makes a donation to the Floyd Humane Society. For every gardening book purchased from her yellow bookshelf, those proceeds go directly to the Perfect Gift Shop. She very much wants to be a part of and support our wonderful, local community.
